Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a part-time PT Inbound Freight Handler in Orlando, FL. You will load and unload freight, assist with recouping damaged items, and ensure trailers are prepared and safe for loading.

You will use forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and related equipment while weighing and dimensioning shipments. Responsibilities include verifying paperwork, checking for hazardous material compliance, and properly securing freight to prevent shifting during transport.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must satisfactorily pass a background check and alcohol/drug test.
• Prior experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler preferred.
• Forklift Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment and assist in recouping damaged freight.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading freight; use proper lifting techniques.
• Select and use appropriate freight handling equipment (forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification and safe handling; plan cube usage and weight distribution.
• Inspect freight, document shortages or damage, and review freight bills for special instructions.
• Check manifests and labels against freight bills; verify hazardous material descriptions and proper placarding when loading hazardous material.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
