Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN for the 4-bed MICU with 3 x 12-hour shifts (7p-7a) and 36 hours per week. The unit provides critical care and requires a strong ICU background and RN licensure in the state.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes. BLS certification and ongoing professional development are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges to practice in applicable state(s).
• BLS certification. Additional certifications may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, governance, and quality initiatives to improve care and apply evidence-based practices.
• Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families.
• Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources with the care team.
• Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
• May administer medications and therapies per clinical protocols.
• Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• May float to other units as needed.
• Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics and ethical decision-making.
