The University of Maryland Medical System in Bel Air, MD seeks an entry-level security officer to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff during the 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM shift. Core duties include patrolling facilities, handling emergencies, controlling access, and documenting incidents.

You will support clinical teams, enforce safety policies, operate access controls and radios, and provide courteous guest relations while upholding department standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved de-escalation course within 90 days of starting.
• Valid driver’s license required for all hires after April 1, 2026.

Responsabilités

• Maintain a visible security presence and patrol interior/exterior areas to spot hazards and report issues.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and use de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Support clinical teams during high-risk situations while preserving patient dignity and safety.
• Enforce safety policies and document violations for escalation to Security leadership.
