Beacon Health System in Allegan, MI is hiring a Public Safety Officer for Beacon Allegan. The officer reports to the Director and will protect patients, visitors, employees, and property, primarily in the Emergency Trauma Center, with armed proficiency as required.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, responding to emergencies, enforcing security procedures, conducting investigations, records, coordinating with law enforcement, and providing escort services; a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years hospital security, public safety, law enforcement, military, emergency response, or related security/customer service experience preferred.
• Current licenses and certifications as required by the department and position.

Responsibilities

• Monitor activities of patients, visitors, staff, and others to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Respond to emergencies including fires, disturbances, accidents, criminal activity, disasters, bomb threats, workplace violence incidents, and active shooters.
• Enforce security procedures, conduct investigations, and assist staff, patients, and visitors with a visible security presence.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other agencies as necessary.
• Restrict access to visitors and staff and regulate parking per policy.
• Operate CCTV, access control, alarms, radios, and incident reporting systems.
• Prepare reports, maintain logs, preserve evidence, and ensure chain of custody.
• Provide escort services throughout campus and support clinical staff in high-risk situations.
