Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide security for patients, staff, and visitors on a 3 - night shift schedule, including weekends. The role includes patrols, entry-point checks, incident reporting, and cooperation with local authorities to ensure a safe hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years in public safety, a high school diploma or GED, and completion of mandatory trainings and certifications.

Qualifications

• Three years related experience in public safety or equivalent training.
• High school diploma or GED required; orientation and annual competency reviews mandatory.
• Must complete annual certifications (CPR, fire safety, etc.) within required timeframes.
• Avade 2 (restraint) training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for patients, staff, and visitors and protect hospital property.
• Periodically patrol hospital buildings and grounds.
• Inspect doors and entry points; report unsecured areas.
• Record incidents and assist local authorities as needed.
• Adhere to hospital orders and standards of respect.
