Job summary

Bristol Hospice is seeking compassionate Registered Nurses to serve as Warriors of the Night, providing after-hours and weekend visits and admissions with autonomy and empathy. The role supports patients and families during critical moments, emphasizing hospice philosophy and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with knowledge of hospice, telephone triage preferred
• Must have a current licensure in good standing with the state
• Must understand the philosophy of hospice concept and needs of the terminally ill
• Must be flexible in work hours
• Must show aptitude of computer data entry and use of current software systems
• Must possess ability to deal with stressful situations and grieving families
• Must demonstrate nursing skills per competency checklist
• Must be willing to maintain knowledge of information systems and software programs
• Ability to travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for prolonged periods

Responsibilities

• Will perform after hours and weekend visits and admissions as needed
• Follow up on phone calls and direct to appropriate RN staff or take care of needs per scope of practice
• Dispatch field nurses and other staff to patient residences in a timely manner
• Refill prescriptions, order supplies and DME, assist in coordination for patients and families
• Document calls, conversations and outcomes in the call-in software system
• Receive start-of-shift reports and give end-of-shift reports per location workflow
• All other duties as assigned
