Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a Nights and Weekends Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Technician in Caldwell, ID to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. You will handle brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems, and perform PM inspections while maintaining accurate records.

Role requires lifting 30-250 lbs, a valid driver's license, and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30-250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime maybe required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including: Brakes, HVAC systems, Drivetrains, Electrical systems, Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections.
• Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).
• Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
