Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a skilled mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. Responsibilities include conducting fleet inspections, performing scheduled maintenance, and responding to roadside service calls.

Candidates should possess a high school diploma, mechanical knowledge, and problem-solving ability. The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to lift/move heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Job description

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

Brakes

HVAC systems

Drivetrains

Electrical systems

Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections

Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.

Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.

Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).

Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Maintain detailed records of work performed.

Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.

Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.

Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).

Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.

Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.

Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).

Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).

• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
