Job summary

UC Health is seeking a PRN Health Unit Coordinator for the night shift at West Chester Hospital in the Obstetric Services department.

The HUC provides clerical support to the clinical team, transcribes orders, maintains patient records, and serves as the communication link among patients, staff, visitors, physicians, and other departments. This role emphasizes accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced obstetric setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; HUC education from college or vocational school preferred.
• Years of Experience: 1-2 years equivalent customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing orders as written, notifying the nurse of any STAT orders; completing the necessary computer order entry and/or requisitions on a timely basis.
• Scheduling diagnostic tests with the appropriate department.
• Document completion of orders transcribed; completing all clerical activities related to admission, transfer or discharge of patient.
• Able to multitask during periods of high-activity or high-stress; communicates effectively with healthcare providers; HIPAA-compliant information handling.
• As a receptionist, greet and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff; manage unit communications and call lights promptly.
