Job summary

UC Health is recruiting a part-time Health Unit Coordinator for the days shift at University Of Cincinnati Medical Center, NICU. The HUC provides clerical support to the clinical team, handles transcription, maintains medical records, and serves as a communication link among patients, staff, visitors, and physicians.

The role requires a high school diploma (HUC education preferred) and 1–2 years of customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required; HUC education preferred.
• 1–2 years equivalent customer service experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• BLS certification or willingness to obtain during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Review orders and notify the nurse of STAT orders.
• Complete computer order entry and requisitions in a timely manner.
• Schedule diagnostic tests with the appropriate department.
• Maintain patient charts and medical records from admission to discharge.
• Serve as receptionist and assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Chart maintenance and filing in medical records.
• Support unit operations and ensure HIPAA-compliant handling of patient information.
