Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker in Portland, OR to transport freight across the dock area to/from trailers for loading. The starting pay is $22.26 per hour, with a night shift from 22:00 to 03:30 and duties including forklift and pallet jack operation, documentation verification, and securing freight in trailers.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age, and warehouse experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred, including forklift operations.
• Hostler/yard mule experience is a plus.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
