Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock/yard worker to move freight across the dock area and assist with loading to trailers. Starting pay is $21.16 per hour for an overnight shift, with duties including forklift and pallet jack operation, documentation verification, and securing freight inside trailers.

Basic math and communication skills are required, along with the ability to lift heavy loads and work independently or in a team. Prior warehouse or hostler experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors with up to 75 pounds of lift, multiple times daily.

Responsibilities

• Move freight across dock area using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Inspect and repair damaged freight when needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and related documentation.
• Perform hostling duties when required.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
