Job summary

City of Clovis is seeking a lead Equipment Mechanic to supervise a crew on the night shift, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and to perform journey-level repairs on motorized equipment.

The role involves diagnosing engines, transmissions and fuel systems, overhauls, and ensuring accurate records and preventive maintenance scheduling. You will train staff, assign tasks, and monitor performance while maintaining safety standards and compliance with city regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years journey-level maintenance and repair experience on automotive/heavy equipment.
• Valid Class A California CDL with endorsements and clean driving record.
• ASE MA and MT certifications, or MA/MT with Fire Equipment Mechanic II.
• Within four years, obtain Fire Marshal/ASE MA or MT certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in equipment maintenance on motorized equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose, overhaul engines and transmissions and perform tune-ups.
• Repair gas/diesel/CNG fuel systems and related components.
• Train subordinates, supervise on-the-job work, and ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain records, schedules and inventory; input data into PCs.
