Job summary

The City of Clovis, California seeks a Lead Equipment Mechanic for the night shift (2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.).

You will lead a crew of equipment mechanics and service workers in maintaining motorized equipment, diagnosing repairs, and scheduling preventive maintenance. Requirements include 5 years of journey-level experience, ASE MA/MT (or MA/MT with Fire Equipment Mechanic II) credentials, and a current Class A CDL with endorsements.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of journey level experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive and/or heavy trucks and other power-driven equipment.
• Ability to lead, supervise and coordinate a shift.
• ASE Master Automobile (MA) and Truck (MT) certifications or MA/MT plus Fire Equipment Mechanic II, as stated, with ongoing recertification requirements.
• Within four years of employment, obtain Fire Marshal certification or equivalent ASE MA/MT.
• Possession of a valid Class A California Commercial Driver's License with endorsements and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in equipment maintenance and repair on motorized equipment; inspect and diagnose mechanical problems.
• Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, transmissions, differentials and related systems; perform tune-ups and welding as needed.
• Trains subordinates, assigns and checks work, maintains records and reports; ensures safety compliance.
