Job summary

EMCOR Government Services in Washington, DC is seeking a Building Engineer to monitor major mechanical systems, respond to fire alarm events, and coordinate with local authorities. The shift is Wednesday – Saturday 12am-10am, requiring clear communication and hands-on control of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.

The role works under a collective bargaining agreement, with emphasis on safety, logkeeping, and preventive maintenance across BAS, boilers, chillers, and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have a Washington DC 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial or government facilities.
• Must complete an OSHA 10 General Safety and Health training class (supplied by EMCOR).
• Must be able to work Wednesday – Saturday 12a-10a.

Responsibilities

• Represent EMCOR for facility emergencies and coordinate with management.
• Monitor mechanical systems using the BAS and log unusual events.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, boilers and related equipment.
• Read gauges, adjust valves, controls and pumps to maintain operations.
• Maintain shift safety, paperwork, and proper documentation.
