Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts seeks an ED Technician to support nursing staff and patients during night shifts. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform direct and indirect patient care activities, assist in exams and treatments, manage equipment, and document all care in the medical record.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR certification, and licensure/certification as Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or EMT/EMT-I.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or licensure in Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or EMT/EMT-I.
• Current CPR certification.
• Nursing students who have completed their first clinical rotation may be considered equivalent to Nurse Aide Certification.
• Previous experience in a medical-related field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, the ED Technician assists the nursing staff in patient care activities.
• Performs direct and indirect patient care tasks as delegated by the RN.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and rooms; stocks supplies.
• Documents all care activities in the medical record.
• Communicates patient status clearly to RNs and/or other team members.
