Job summary

Faith Mission is seeking an Engagement Specialist on behalf of Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio in Fairfield County. This full‑time role includes night shifts (Thu–Sun, 12am–8am; Sat 4pm–12am) and PRN evenings, with a pay rate of $15/hour.

You will greet residents, assist with intake, maintain shelter operations, and support safety and care. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and PTO, with paid holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with homeless or other special needs populations preferred.
• Ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Greets all volunteers, residents and prospective residents in a professional, helpful and welcoming manner.
• Completes intake paperwork with new residents and verifies eligibility for shelter approval.
• Maintains overall cleanliness and sanitation of shelter facility.
• Inspects bags and storage items entering/leaving facility and ensures safety.
• Holds shelter residents accountable for shelter rules and supervises daily chores.
• Communicates with Shelter Services Manager about residents' stay and emergencies.
• Maintains bed count, attends meetings, and assists in meal provisioning.
• Records and dispenses medications following procedures.
• Treats residents with compassion and respect and facilitates shift reports.
