Job summary

Mount Carmel New Albany is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for a part-time, 12-hour night shift (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends/holidays. You will support patient care in a fast-paced ED, perform phlebotomy, EKG, wound care, and data collection while collaborating with RNs and physicians.

Required education includes a high school diploma and completion of courses covering patient care, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS; prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of approved courses including basic patient care skills, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs promptly.
• Transports patients and provides escort as needed.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigation and equipment setup.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects lab specimens.
• Assists in trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts and resuscitation.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique when appropriate.
• Performs suture and staple removal (excluding facial region).
• Performs foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKG and phlebotomy.
• Collects and documents patient data such as vitals, weight, procedures performed.
• Reports observations/condition changes to RN or physician promptly.
