Job summary

Wellstar Kennestone Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Tech for PT Nights (7pm–7am) to support patient care in a fast-paced ED. You will obtain vitals, perform EKGs, assist with procedures, and help manage telesitter operations, under nurse supervision.

The role emphasizes safe patient handling and collaborative teamwork. Required are a high school diploma and BLS, strong communication skills, and proficiency with computers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with desktop computer systems required.
• Must be a team player and self-starter.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, age-appropriate care and document vital signs; alert nurse if abnormal.
• Perform 12-lead EKG and hand results to ED physician.
• Perform bedside blood glucose testing; inform nurse if abnormal.
• Apply extremity splints as directed by nurse/physician.
• Instruct patient on safe crutch ambulation with return demonstration.
• Perform oral suctioning and superficial wound care.
• Maintain sterile trays and perform dressing applications; phlebotomy as needed.
• Operate telesitter systems: track, retrieve carts, troubleshoot connectivity, and escalate when needed.
• Transport patients, supplies, equipment, and medications safely.
• Monitor patients in restraints and document findings per policy.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and communicate abnormalities to staff.
