Job summary

Randstad USA in Nassau County, NY is seeking a Night Shift Mechanic to join our manufacturing facility. This full-time role focuses on electro-mechanical troubleshooting of automated production machinery, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and rapid problem solving.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of electrical and maintenance experience, a High School diploma, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2 years of electrical maintenance experience
• 2 years of general maintenance experience
• Experience reading blueprints and schematics
• Knowledge of conveyors and PLC systems
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repair: Observe equipment in operation to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, identify root causes, and repair or replace defective components.
• Precision Maintenance: Disassemble machinery, inspect parts for wear and defects, and adjust/align mechanical systems using micrometers, calipers, multimeters, RPM gauges, and straightedges.
• Electrical & PLC Troubleshooting: Use electrical schematics, wire lists, and I/O documentation to troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems and PLCs.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled PM tasks, including lubricating, cleaning, adjusting, and replacing components to maintain optimal equipment runtime.
• Post-Repair Testing: Reassemble, test, and power up equipment after repairs to verify full performance according to specs.
• Shop Upkeep: Keep work areas clean and safe, manage parts inventory, and follow proper material recycling and disposal protocols.
