Job summary

The Valley Hospital-Paramus seeks a patient care support technician to assist physicians and nurses in direct and indirect patient care. Responsibilities include performing EKGs, finger-stick glucose, phlebotomy, wound care, and ensuring accurate vital signs are obtained and recorded.

Role requires high school diploma, CPR certification, and eligibility for relevant credentials; option for nursing students with BLS within 90 days. Night shift available at The Valley Hospital-Paramus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Maintains current CPR card/certification.
• One of: current credential from AAMA, NCCT, AMT, NHA, AMCA, NAHP, NCMA in CMA/CNA/Patient Care Technician/NJ Home Health Aide/EMT; or nursing student with BLS within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to physicians and nurses in direct and indirect patient care (EKG, finger stick glucose, phlebotomy, wound care).
• Obtain and record vital signs and assist with materials management and equipment maintenance.
• Assist patients with crutch fitting and apply orthopedic splints and wound dressings as directed.
• Support staff with use of hospital equipment and computer systems in patient care areas.
