Job summary

FreshDirect is seeking an EHS Specialist for overnight operations to safeguard employees across production, warehouse, and distribution. You will be the on-site EHS resource during overnight shifts, conducting hazard assessments, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes safety training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement, with a focus on safe loading docks and transportation safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of EHS or occupational safety experience in manufacturing, food production, warehousing, distribution, or logistics.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety practices.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, observations, audits, and incident investigations.
• Ability to work independently with limited on-site EHS supervision.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with frontline employees, supervisors, and emergency responders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site EHS resource during overnight hours.
• Conduct safety inspections, observations, audits, and risk assessments.
• Support OSHA compliance and EHS policies and procedures.
• Conduct incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Promote safety engagement, training, and hazard reporting.
• Coordinate with Operations leadership to identify risk reduction opportunities.
