Job summary

Boston Medical Center in Boston is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for the Adult ED. The role supports RN staff with patient care, vital signs, and daily ED operations in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Under supervision, you will assist with patient comfort and safety, maintain documentation, and participate in care coordination. BLS/CPR certification and a high school diploma are required, with opportunity for growth within a Magnet®-recognized organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS/CPR current or within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.
• One year of ED/ CNA/ Patient Care Technician/ MA experience or enrollment in nursing program or EMT/field medic.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient care interventions for ED patients and families (vital signs, bathing, feeding, hygiene, wound care, emotional support).
• Maintain a safe, clean ED environment through environmental and inventory tasks.
• Support efficient ED operations and contribute to quality patient outcomes.
