Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join our ED Admission Holds team within a level 1 trauma center and Magnet-designated facility. The role involves caring for adult med/surg and IMU patients waiting for inpatient beds, with a focus on safety, patient experience, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN (preferred) and a Texas nursing license with BLS certification, and has ED or admissions holds experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
• Certified in Basic Life Support; additional certifications may be required based on unit requirements.
• RN levels reflect experience: RN I <1 year, RN II 1–3 years, RN III 3–10 years, RN IV 10+ years.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills and patient needs.
• Coordinates the planning for nursing care with an interdisciplinary team and makes appropriate clinical decisions.
• Collaborates with healthcare team and may delegate to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Coordinates treatment plans and develops discharge/transfer planning.
• Participates in interdisciplinary program evaluation and continuous process improvement.
• Adheres to regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards.
• Mentors and precepts less experienced staff; supports department goals.
• Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing compassionate, personalized, and efficient care.
