Job summary

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is hiring a Production Supervisor for the night shift at our Hopewell, VA dry ice facility. You will guide Plant Operators in production, packaging, and shipping preparation, and ensure safe operation and timely startup and shutdown.

The role requires 3+ years supervising 10+ workers, strong leadership, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Candidates must lift up to 50 lb and work in a noisy environment; on-call availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with 3+ years supervising 10+ production workers
• Strong decision-making to enforce policies, plant procedures and discipline staff fairly
• Very good written/verbal communication for basic reports, plus organizational skills to manage personnel files, time tracking, and inventory
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email) and budgeting/cost control math
• Ability to work safely in a noisy environment with elevated CO2 and lift 5–50 lb of dry ice

Responsibilities

• Guide Plant Operators in production, packaging of dry ice, shipping preparation and loading/unloading products
• Coordinate safe operation, start-up, and shutdown of the dry ice plant while managing team tasks
• Coordinate with the local branch to ensure resources match production demand
• Communicate operational status to Plant and Branch Managers
• Interview and onboard new production associates and perform written evaluations/annual reviews
• Mentor and train production associates to meet safety, quality and policies
• Monitor supply inventories to ensure materials are on-hand
• Identify and correct safety hazards and product quality deficiencies; operate forklift as needed
• Work 70% in unconditioned space with PPE; 30% in office; on-call/shift work as required
