Job summary

Cowan Systems, LLC is seeking a Dispatch Manager in Windsor, CT to lead the daily dispatch of a driver fleet and coordinate with the Operations/Terminal Manager. You will supervise professional drivers, ensure safety compliance, and drive performance improvements across the team.

The role requires strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills, plus experience with CDL dispatching and DOT/OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or substituted with 4 years of similar experience.
• 2 years of dispatching CDL Class A truck drivers.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related safety regulations.
• Excellent customer service, problem solving, and decision making skills.
• Ability to develop a working knowledge of all terminal operation aspects.
• Travel may be required as dictated by the customer/business.
• Ability to manage a process from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Effectively dispatch a fleet using proper procedures for real time management of freight and drivers ensuring high level of data accuracy within the system.
• Maintain highest driver relationship and satisfaction of new and tenured drivers by onboarding and reviewing performance.
• Onboard new drivers following the 12 week onboarding process and review driver scorecards to ensure performance.
• Audit driver manifests for pay accuracy and workload balance; communicate policy changes and schedule changes to the fleet.
• Coach and counsel Fleet; develop driver performance improvement plans with HR and Terminal Manager.
• Participate in pre-trip inspections with drivers; coach on productivity, customer care and attendance.
