Job summary

OmniSource in Toledo, OH is seeking a Diesel Technician/Mechanic with at least 2 years on Class 8 tractors to keep our fleet safe and reliable on the night shift. You will perform engine and electrical repairs, tire/brake work, and preventive maintenance while documenting activities daily.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Class 8 transport mechanic experience.
• Solid knowledge of DOT truck maintenance requirements.
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Ability to weld and fabricate as needed.
• Strong safety knowledge and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair basic engine components.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical issues.
• Change tires, adjust brakes, fix lights.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on trucks/trailers.
• Maintain maintenance records.
• Operate forklift and drive trucks when needed.
• Ensure housekeeping and safety standards.
• Assist with process improvements.
