Job summary

OmniSource is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic for the night shift to maintain the safety and reliability of our fleet. A minimum of two years' Class 8 trucking experience, strong welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to read schematics are required.

The role requires a self-motivated team player who can work independently and adapt to field conditions in Toledo, OH. Typical duties include engine and electrical repairs, tire/brake work, preventive maintenance, and accurate

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair basic engine components.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues.
• Change tires, brake adjustments, and light repairs.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on trucks/trailers.
• Maintain maintenance documentation.
• Operate forklift and drive trucks as needed.

We are looking for a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic with a minimum of two years experience on Class 8 trucks to join our team and help maintain the safety and reliability of our fleet and equipment during the night shift. This position requires a self-motivated individual who is a team player, with a strong willingness to learn new skills and contribute positively to the team’s success.

What You Will Do

• Inspect and repair basic engine components.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues.
• Change tires, make brake adjustments, and fix lights.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on trucks and trailers.
• Maintain complete and accurate maintenance documentation.
• Operate forklift and drive truck and trailer when necessary.
• Follow good housekeeping standards in all areas of work.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
• Make recommendations for process system improvements.
• Adhere to industrial safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
• Complete all other tasks as assigned.

What We Look For

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as Class 8 transport mechanic or a related field.
• General knowledge of DOT truck maintenance requirements.
• Clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more consistently.
• Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have strong welding and fabrication skills.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently.
• A dedicated team player who contributes to the overall success of the organization.

Nice To Have

• Class A Commercial Driver License

Schedule

• Typical work schedule is Sunday - Thursday from 1100 PM to 800 AM.
