Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to keep our fleet safe and reliable. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing diesel equipment, performing preventive maintenance per DOT standards, and coordinating with vendors on action plans.

The role requires 3 years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel experience, own tools, and a valid driver's license. Schedule is Sunday-Thursday nights; pay is $38–$40 per hour; onsite at our maintenance facility.

Qualifications

• 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
• Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience administering appropriate PM program.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Able to read and write legibly; basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
• Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
• Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
• Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
