Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Datacenter Technician (Level 2) for an on-site role in Hillsboro, OR. The candidate will support buildout and ongoing operations of production datacenters, including racks, testing areas, and infrastructure.

The role requires hands-on datacenter experience, strong Linux troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate with network teams in a fast-paced environment. Shift: Graveyard; contract position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years hands-on datacenter technician experience.
• Strong ability to independently troubleshoot server issues using Linux.
• Experience with rack/stack, server configuration, and datacenter hardware installation.
• Proficiency with cabling, wiring, and physical infrastructure tasks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with network teams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and isolate server issues using Linux-based tools and break/fix methodologies.
• Order, replace, and install server components; return defective parts to vendors.
• Perform firmware updates to ensure servers are running latest versions.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Support network administrators with tasks such as replacing cables, rerouting cables, replacing optics, and installing upgraded server components.
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to enable remote configuration by network teams.
• Provide targeted assistance to network admins requesting hands-on support.
• Perform Level 1 duties as needed, including rack/stack and deployment support.
