Job summary

Manpower, Inc. is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineer in Charlotte, NC to support day-to-day uptime of data center systems. You’ll monitor electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire/Life safety, and emergency power equipment, respond to alarms, and perform preventive maintenance.

The role requires hands-on experience with UPS/generators, strong troubleshooting, and clear communication with tenants and contractors. Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, with rotation for 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of related work experience in critical environments with hands-on UPS and generator operations.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; strong troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair data center facility equipment to support uptime, including fire/life safety, HVAC and mechanical systems, plumbing, controls, and hot water systems.
• Operate and maintain critical electrical and emergency backup systems, including UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, and transformers.
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, ventilating systems, water heaters, pumps, valves, piping, and filters to ensure proper operation.
• Record equipment readings, document findings, and make adjustments; respond promptly to alarms and alerts through building management systems.
• Manage work orders using CMMS, support vendor management, handle customer-facing tickets, and follow emergency escalation procedures.
