Job summary

AdventHealth is a faith-based health system committed to the healing ministry of Christ. This Respiratory Therapist role supports critical care patients during the night shift at our Lake Wales, Florida campus, performing airway maintenance, inhaled therapies, and ventilator management.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document care accurately, participate in critical care training, and uphold safety standards while delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1+ year of critical care experience.
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Active NBRC Credentialed RRT required.
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform airway maintenance, including manual resuscitators, suctioning, intubation, extubation, and tracheostomy tube changes per facility needs.
• Deliver inhaled medications, bronchial hygiene therapy, and lung expansion therapy, and manages patients receiving inhaled gases.
• Respond to Code Blue emergencies immediately, providing CPR according to American Heart Association guidelines.
• Assess and make appropriate decisions and interventions according to patient evaluation and needs.
• Set patient goals and develops a plan of care with the multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor, evaluate, and interpret diagnostic data, including lab results.
• Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
• Complete department orientation, critical care training, and advanced critical care training programs.
• Practice standard precautions and enforce safety regulations according to hospital policies.
• Provide respiratory care to patients on invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilators, including transport and monitoring.
• Perform hemodynamic procedures, including arterial cannulation, pulmonary artery catheter insertion, and cardiac output profiles per facility needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
