Job summary

AdventHealth in Lake Wales, Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night-time PRN coverage. You will provide respiratory care, manage ventilators, and respond to critical events while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within a faith-based health system.

Requirements include 1+ year of critical care and 3+ years of respiratory care experience, along with RRT credentials, BLS, and NRP. The role includes benefits from day one and a comprehensive pay range.

Qualifications

• Technical/vocational school diploma required.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist with RRT credentials.
• Active NBRC RRT credential required.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draw, analyze, and report blood gas results; respond to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manage ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and document changes.
• Assist with bedside bronchoscopy and manage non-invasive BiPAP/CPAP and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Perform respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and readmission rates.
• Assist with clinical instruction and serve as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Review workload, make staff assignments, and ensure completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follow regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identify and implement cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Complete and document ECGs and report errors to management.
