Job summary

AdventHealth in Lake Wales, Florida, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide advanced respiratory care, including ventilator management and bronchoscopy support. The role supports interdisciplinary rounds and ensures quality patient care.

The position requires RRT certification, NBRC credentials, and BLS/NRP, with 1+ year CCU experience and 3+ years Respiratory Care. Night shifts and PRN schedule apply, with benefits from Day One.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of critical care experience
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• Active NBRC Credentialed RRT required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results; responds to rapid response and code blue situations; performs CPR as needed.
• Manages invasive and non-invasive ventilators and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments per physician orders and protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds to impact length of stay and readmission rates.
• Provides clinical instruction and serves as a resource for lower-level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and acts as shift lead when required.
• Follows regulatory requirements for blood gas lab quality control and maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes ECGs and reports any errors or inefficiencies to management.
