Job summary

FreshDirect is seeking a Conveyor Belt Mechanic to support our busy distribution center in New York. The role emphasizes safe operations and maintaining a clean, orderly work environment while performing preventive maintenance and on-runtime support for the belt systems.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of hands-on experience with conveyors or similar machinery, is comfortable reading electrical schematics, and can lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience as conveyor belt/system mechanic or technician.
• Technical education related to mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration.
• Able to safely operate various shop equipment and read schematics.
• Knowledge of three-phase motors and control circuits.
• OSHA safety certification is a plus.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and work standing 8-12 hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventive maintenance checks.
• Support operations during runtimes.
• Track equipment failures and diagnose electrical problems.
• Replace conveyor belting, gearboxes, rollers, bearings and motors as needed.
• Conduct RCA and ensure LOTO procedures are followed.
• Work with CMMS and tools to maintain safe and efficient conveyors.
