Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support RN in daily patient care on a 36-hour weekly schedule. Night shift runs 19:00–07:30, with every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays required. Duties include patient care, vital signs, EMR documentation, and assisting with admissions and transfers.

The role requires BLS and Nurse Aide in good standing, with GED/HSE or high school diploma. Candidates should have basic computer skills and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
• Certification Addendum (maintain hospital certifications).
• Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF).

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, daily weights, and other data in EMR.
• Conduct purposeful rounding and communicate observations to RN.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge under RN supervision.
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing as directed.
• Handle errands, stock nursing areas, clean equipment and maintain work areas.
• Assist with patient positioning and transfers and support dietary needs.
• Maintain skin integrity and manage specialized patient supplies (e.g., TED hoses).
• May assist with IV removal, post mortem care, and bladder scans per unit requirements.
• Follow infection prevention and aseptic procedures, wear appropriate PPE.
