Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant I to provide designated basic patient care at 3 12-hour night shifts per week on 6 North Ortho Urology. The role supports licensed nurses in stable patient situations, emphasizing safety, accuracy, and compassionate care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Nurse Aide I training and registry, and BLS certification. Sign-on bonus eligibility applies for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of a state Board of Nursing Aide I approved training program/competency evaluation.
• Nurse Aide I Registration Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide I Registry.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' condition and promptly report any changes, abnormalities, or safety concerns to the licensed nurse.
• Obtain and accurately document vital signs, heights, weights, intake/output, specimens, and other patient care information.
• Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, positioning, mobility, and comfort measures.
• Support patient treatments and delegated nursing tasks, including glucose monitoring, catheter care, heat/cold applications, and other non-sterile procedures.
• Provide one-on-one patient observation and maintain patient safety at all times.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, ambulation, and safe use of mobility equipment and lifts.
• Prepare patients for meals, assist with feeding, monitor dietary intake, and support hydration requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment, including stocking supplies and changing linens.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Assist with pre-operative, post-operative, and other specialized patient care activities as directed.
• Collaborate effectively with nurses and team members, communicate patient information during shift changes, and support unit operations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service through compassionate, professional, and patient-centered care
• Participate in staff meetings, required education, and training programs to maintain knowledge and competency
• Adhere to departmental policies, professional standards, and teamwork expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned
