The supervisor oversees shift operations, directs personnel, and ensures efficient use of time and resources. Direct patient care is possible as needed, within scope of practice, with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Current and valid California Registered Nurse license.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
• Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration in written and verbal form.
• Oversees quality of staff and functions during their shift; responsible for unit operations.
• Assists Department Director in daily operations, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel and resources.
• Ensure efficient department functions and appropriate use of time, equipment, and staff.
• Performs direct patient care as needed within scope of practice.
• Continuously assess care and direct staff to modify the plan of care as needed.
