Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist generalist to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.

The role is a 3rd shift position with responsibilities spanning specimen acceptability, routine and complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure accurate patient results. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological sciences (or Medical Technology) and has 1+ year of clinical lab experience or an MLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
