Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Ascension St Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. Work Schedule: 2nd shift 2:00pm-10:30pm or 4x10s Mon-Thu 1pm-11:30pm; may work holidays.

You will determine specimen acceptability, perform procedures, monitor instrumentation, and report results to support quality patient care. Compare experiences and certifications with CLIA requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology. 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
1 year or more of MLS experience or ASCP/AMT certification preferred.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems; proficient with computers.

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per SOPs.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Prepare reference test send outs and bone marrow processing as needed.
Demonstrate ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
