Job summary

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Ascension St Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN. Work Schedule: 3rd shift

The candidate will perform a variety of laboratory procedures, ensure accuracy in reporting results, and maintain instrument performance. This role requires a MLS or a relevant Bachelor's degree with clinical lab experience and flexibility to work a 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or MLS degree
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or MLS degree
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and strong computer proficiency
• High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
