Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Ascension St Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN. The role is scheduled for 2nd shift and involves testing and instrument maintenance in a high-volume clinical lab.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science and 1 year of lab experience or an MLS degree; ASCP/AMT certification is preferred. Excellent attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
• ASCP or AMT certification

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
