Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform and report a range of laboratory tests in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and MT/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent, with TN licensure within six months of hire. Overtime and call-back may be required to support patient care needs in the Jackson, TN area.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for scheduling, reporting results and coordinating with nursing and physicians.
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to a busy laboratory environment.
• Detail-oriented with focus on accurate test performance and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Performs and determines the accuracy of routine laboratory tests in designated sections.
• Evaluates and reports test results according to procedures.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and performs quality control checks.
• Identifies problems affecting test performance and takes corrective action.
• Maintains records and participates in preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Instructs students and mentors new personnel as assigned.
• Obtains specimens from patients following proper procedures.
• Contributes to a positive work environment and team effort.
