Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, TN seeks an ASCP-certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform and report routine and special tests in designated areas. Under supervision, you will ensure prompt, accurate results and adherence to policies and QC requirements.

Responsibilities include preparing reagents, maintaining instruments, supervising MLT students, and training new staff. A CLS degree from NACCLS and TN licensure within six months are required, with ongoing CE hours annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NACCLS approved program or equivalent.
• MT/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• TN State License within six months of hire.
• Maintain 12 CE hours annually as required by the State.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report routine and special laboratory tests.
• Evaluate and report test results.
• Identify and correct factors affecting test performance.
• Prepare reagents, QC, and calibrators; evaluate QC results.
• Operate and maintain clinical laboratory instruments.
• Document records and preventive maintenance; troubleshoot instruments.
• Instruct MLT students and orient new personnel; lead tech when needed.
• Obtain specimens from patients for procedures.
• Contribute to a positive team environment.
