Job summary

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Tennessee, part of Covenant Health, is seeking a Medical Technologist for full-time night shift. Qualifications

• Current Tennessee State License as a Medical Technologist.
• No prior experience required or specified.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity tests as appropriate for testing department and shift.
• Follow procedures for specimen handling, analysis, reporting and records of patient results.
• Document corrective actions when test processes deviate from specifications.
• Perform proficiency testing and maintain records to demonstrate compliance with testing standards.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document all control activities and calibrations.
• Notify appropriate staff of out-of-control situations if unresolved.
• Assist in orientation and evaluation of students and new employees.
• Prepare reagents and supplies according to precise formulas.
• Utilize LIS in patient accessioning and results, monitor lists.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Review abnormal reports and maintain a clean work area.
• Assist with pneumatic tube system coverage and specimen distribution.
• Handle biohazard waste per policy.
• Participate in evaluation/validation of testing systems.
