Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, TN seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform and report routine and special tests with prompt, accurate results. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NACCLS approved program and MT/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent.

Under supervision, you will evaluate results, prepare reagents and QC, operate instruments, maintain records, assist in training staff, and obtain patient specimens.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from a NACCLS approved program or equivalent.
• MT/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent and TN State license within six months of hire.
• Annual continuing education minimum of 12 hours to maintain licensure.
• 3 months to 1 year of on-the-job training/experience in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special laboratory tests and reports results.
• Evaluates, analyzes, and records test results.
• Identifies problems affecting test performance and takes corrective action.
• Prepares reagents, QC, and calibrators and evaluates QC results.
• Operates and maintains clinical laboratory instruments and records maintenance.
• Assists in orienting and evaluating new personnel.
• Obtains specimens from patients for laboratory procedures.
• Assists in policies and procedural maintenance within the lab.
• Assists in safe handling of hazardous waste as required.
