Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence in El Paso, TX seeks a Charge Nurse (RN) for the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) to supervise nursing staff, guide patient flow, and coordinate care with physicians during night shifts.

You will assess patients per shift, oversee admissions/transfers/discharges, mentor new staff, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and maintain accurate charting and QA measures in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing preferred.
• 1 year of RN experience required.
• Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support to staff and supervise support staff.
• Ensure patient throughput and a safe environment within the PCU.
• Direct nursing staff and delegate assignments based on patient acuity.
• Monitor medical charts and coordinate care with doctors and administrators.
• Oversee admissions, transfers and discharges; mentor new staff.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain accurate records.
