Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to join the Blood Bank team for the night shift (5pm-6:30am) on a 0.9 FTE basis. Blood bank testing experience is required.

The MLS II will perform and interpret standard to specialized tests, ensuring accurate data for patient care and treatment decisions. Responsibilities include evaluating new procedures, maintaining quality control, and participating in instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Clinical Laboratory Science program from an accredited institution or equivalent, per CLIA regulations for high complexity testing personnel.
• Current nationally recognized certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepares clear, technically sound reports of test results and examinations for patient treatment decisions.
• Performs wide range of laboratory procedures including chemical, microbiologic, immunologic, hematologic, and immunohematologic tests as related to the job function.
• Maintains competency and keeps informed on current literature and new developments in medical technology.
• Participates in routine and specialized patient testing and quality control testing, planning techniques based on findings and established protocols.
• Troubleshoots instrument issues and differentiates causes of unexpected results to ensure accurate results.
