Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Blood Bank Lab Specialist to perform routine diagnostic tests in the Blood Bank, including immunohematology testing and handling of blood components. This PRN night position requires meticulous attention to quality control and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Education aligned to MT/MLS/CLS/BB or MLT; credentialed program required.
• Minimum 2 years of blood bank experience.
• Nationally recognized certification (ASCP, AMT, AABB, etc.) required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine diagnostic tests in the blood bank under supervision.
• Performs immunohematology testing and processes blood components.
• Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory instrumentation; documents maintenance.
• Participates in quality activities, audits, and performance improvement.
• Documents deviations and notifies appropriate staff; maintains accurate records.
• Participates in inventory management and completes competency assessments.
• Adheres to PPE, safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
