Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Blood Bank, working night shifts with a 20-hour weekly schedule. The role focuses on processing and reporting laboratory results with strict quality controls.

Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
• May consider a bachelor’s degree in science with relevant work experience.
• Proof of educational transcripts must be submitted at time of application.
• Experience in a medical laboratory is required if MLS/MT degree is not obtained.
• Certification/licensure: MT/MLT/MLS ASCP or NCLS preferred.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and we do not sponsor visas.
• This position may be listed as Medical Lab Scientist, Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Responsibilities

• Records and/or enters laboratory results and flags unusual values before reporting.
• Reports stat and highly abnormal results promptly according to policies.
• Compares results with previous tests and alerts supervisor of fluctuations.
• Performs quality control and calibrates laboratory equipment as assigned.
• Notifies personnel of problems such as unacceptable specimens or equipment issues.
• Prepares standards, reagents, and testing materials.
